Formula: Each sourced fee scores 100 − fee ÷ 2 (so $0 = 100, $100 = 50, $200 or more = 0); the grade is the weighted average (full transfer-out 40%, partial transfer-out, mandatory reorg and voluntary reorg 20% each) over the fees the broker publishes: A 90+, B 80–89, C 70–79, D 60–69, F below 60. A broker needs its full transfer-out fee and at least 3 of the 4 fees sourced, or it's "Not graded". More on grades.

Questions

Which brokers get an A for fees?

Fidelity, Interactive Brokers and Charles Schwab get an A: their published transfer-out and reorg fees are low or $0.

How is the fee grade calculated?

Each sourced fee scores 100 − fee ÷ 2 (so $0 = 100, $100 = 50, $200 or more = 0); the grade is the weighted average (full transfer-out 40%, partial transfer-out, mandatory reorg and voluntary reorg 20% each) over the fees the broker publishes: A 90+, B 80–89, C 70–79, D 60–69, F below 60. A broker needs its full transfer-out fee and at least 3 of the 4 fees sourced, or it's "Not graded".

Why is a broker 'Not graded'?

It doesn't publish enough of the four fees on official pages we read (Firstrade, J.P. Morgan Self-Directed (Chase), Vanguard, Wealthfront and moomoo). We don't fill in missing fees, so these stay ungraded until the broker publishes them.
